Senior Hardware Engineer

German Orbital Systems is a Berlin based space technology company focusing on innovative, small satellite missions. With 10 satellites in orbit, we are one of the most quickly developing NewSpace companies in Germany. Our customers include companies, universities and governmental institutions.

A strategically important and successful product from our portfolio is the so called DC&SM unit, which drives the separation sequence of satellites from the upper stage of the launch vehicle. We produce several of these highly reliable units yearly and constantly work on the improvement of the design.

To achieve our 2020 goals, we are on the hunt for a Senior Hardware/Electrical engineer to take over the responsibility for the next stage of the DC&SM project. The main goals will be to manage and improve the recurring manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing (MAIT) process of the unit by improving / simplifying the electrical design, automating the testing and checkout procedures as well as by optimizing the supply chain.

At GOS you will have the opportunity to work with a small team of engineers, building our upcoming spacecrafts and launch vehicle hardware. Your tasks will be:

Manage the recurring MAIT of our Sequencers: 

  • Get familiar with the electronics and with the software of the DC&SM
  • Get an overview of the existing supply chain and establish personal contact to the supliers
  • Assembly and Integration of the devices
  • Testing and checkout of the devices
  • Participation in launch campaigns worldwide

Design and develop of the next DC&SM generation

  • Analyze the requirements of other launch vehicles and different separation systems
  • Perform a delta development of the DC&SM
  • Establish new MAIT procedures


  • Master’s degree or Diploma in electrical engineering, embedded hardware design, or equivalent
  • Significant working experience with embedded electronics
  • Good understanding of embedded programming
  • Experience with Altium Designer or other PCB tools
  • English C2
  • Good technical documentation skills

Bonus skills: 

  • Experience with redundant systems
  • Aerospace Background
  • Relevant experience in university or hobby teams
  • German, Russian
